Early Modern Polish Wills as Sources for the History of Mentalities

On 4 March 2026, the Center for the Study of Culture and Mentalities in Early Modern Poland will host a discussion meeting devoted to “Early Modern Polish Wills as Sources for the History of Mentalities” (Testamenty staropolskie jako źródło do badań nad historią mentalności). The meeting will explore how early modern Polish wills can serve as primary sources for cultural history, the history of religious life, family relations, and material culture in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.

Our guests will be Professor Paweł Klint, Dean of the Faculty of History and Pedagogy at the University of Wrocław, and Dr Mirosław Płonka of the Institute of History and Archival Studies, UKEN. The discussion will be moderated by Professor Halina Dudała of the Institute of History and Archival Studies, UKEN.
The meeting will take place on 4 March 2026 in Krakow, at the main campus of the University of the National Education Commission (ul. Podchorążych 2), in the Institute of History and Archival Studies (Room 337), from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. For those unable to attend in person, an online connection will be available.
